Meeting up in person can be a convenient way to deliver items. But staying safe is always the priority. Here are some tips to help buyers and sellers feel safe before, during and after an in-person exchange.
We recommend that you read these tips before you arrange to Meet 🤝🏼
1. Meet in Public
Choose public places, ideally where there is CCTV, like:
A shopping centre
A library lobby
A university campus common area
A police-designated “Safer Exchange Site” (check with your State police if these are available near you).
Avoid meeting at someone’s private home or arranging to meet at your home.
2. Bring a Buddy (or Share Your Plans)
Bring along a friend or family member. If you are going alone, tell someone you trust where you’re going, who you’re meeting and when you expect to be back.
3. Inspect
Buyers may want to inspect what they have bought before they leave and that’s okay!
4. Keep Communication On Tise
Chat about the Tise listing and the Meet using Tise platform messages only. Don’t use personal messaging services or give out your personal phone number.
5. Confirm the Details
Before you Meet, we recommend that you:
Double-check the meeting time and location.
Have a friend or family member ready to go with you or share the details of the Meet with someone you trust.
Remember to take your phone and make sure it’s charged.
6. Trust Your Gut
If something feels off, whether it’s pushy behavior, constant changes to the Meet location or last-minute changes to a more private or unfamiliar location, you can decline to Meet or request a different meeting spot. Prioritise your safety at all times.
7. Keep Proof of the Transaction
After the Meet, it’s helpful for the buyer and seller to send short confirmation messages to each other through the Tise Platform, noting when the transaction occurred. This helps to prove the transaction occurred and can help us to resolve issues.
