Most people on Tise behave well, but there may be a few who try to take advantage of others 🚨
We have systems and routines in place that work to detect users with bad intentions, and we continuously work to strengthen these tools to provide a safe and reliable service for our users. Even though these measures are effective, there is never a 100% guarantee that you won’t encounter someone who is dishonest. Here are some tips to help you stay safe and smart on Tise:
1️⃣ They don’t want to use payment through Tise
This does not necessarily mean the user is trying to scam you if they suggest using payment methods such as Vipps and MobilePay. However, we always recommend using Tise’s integrated payment solution whenever possible. This allows us to assist you if something goes wrong.
2️⃣ They want to move the conversation outside of Tise
If someone early in the conversation asks to continue the discussion on another platform outside Tise (such as Messenger, WhatsApp, SMS, etc.), this can be a red flag. There is no reason why the transaction cannot be completed through the Tise chat, and moving the conversation elsewhere is often an attempt to bypass our security controls.
3️⃣ Sudden payments from foreign banks and/or PayPal
A common tactic is that the scammer claims they have already paid and pressures you to send the item as quickly as possible. They may also send a fake payment receipt.
If you receive a message claiming that money has been sent for an item but you cannot verify this through your bank or account, this is a red flag. We recommend waiting to send the item until the payment has been confirmed as received.
4️⃣ They ask you to click on a link
We recommend never clicking on links sent by another user. These are often attempts at phishing, where the person tries to obtain sensitive information such as card details.
The link might look unusual or overly long while pretending to belong to a legitimate service such as a shipping company. In some cases, scammers create fake versions of payment pages or shipping services to trick users into entering their information.
If you believe you have been exposed to a scam, or if you notice something suspicious on Tise, you can report the user directly in the app so we can investigate further.
By following these simple guidelines, you can help protect yourself from potential scams. Shop safely - and remember to have fun on Tise! 💚
